WCC $cholarships

The Westerly College Club first offered a Latin prize of fifty dollars following which, in 1944, a permanent scholarship was established.

Today the scholarships are funded from two sources: The Westerly College Club and the Lois Hamilton Fontaine Scholarship Fund of The Westerly College Club, Inc. The latter, an endowed fund managed by The Rhode Island Foundation, is dedicated to Mrs. Fontaine, a former Latin teacher and outstanding leader of the College Club.

Selection Criteria

In choosing finalists from the applicant pool, our Scholarship Committee considers these criteria, which are not in any particular order: financial need, academic achievement and scholastic potential, commitment to career goals, and personal qualities.
